I air mine up if it's been siting a while. It is normal to lose a bit of pressure, especially when sitting idle for a lengthy period like 2 weeks or more. I rarely have to change pressure while in a trip on a day to day basis.

Using nitrogen won't stop loss of pressure but it will deflate your wallet.
