I tend to agree with Mike. I understand that you'd like to repair what you have, not replace it with something of better quality...but, even if you are successful, all you'll have is a repaired, poor quality, low functionality kitchen faucet. Why not bite the bullet, take your wife to Lowes, let her pick out a nice tall spout faucet that she (or you) can get a pot under, one with a magnetic, retractable spray wand (one that really works)...maybe one of those "touch on/touch off faucets....you'll be a hero.
