Bob-If all you want it for is bikes, bolt it on. No need to weld. Easier, cheaper. Get a carrier where the wheels sit in the wells, not hang by the bars or frame. Better set up and not at all wobbly. I've had mine for almost 3 years with out a bit of trouble or concern
