I would highly recommend a dry Teflon lube. You spray it on and after a few minutes it dries to a white film. Using any kind of moist grease will attract dirt and dust. I guarantee you will have dirty grease in a matter of days on the road. I use Teflon on my slide gears and arms. Every few months I wipe it down and put on a new coat. I have never had any problems or squeaks.
