Can't help you with the fishing since we don't fish, but maybe someone else can. Dental work--a good dentist and one that we use is Ismael Perez, right across the bridge in Progresso. In fact, Progresso is the only crossing we do anymore. His office is on the left, across the street as you come over the bridge. He was recommended to us by several people before we started going there. As far as parks, there are so many you can choose without a problem once you get there. If you try to reserve now, they all try to get you to commit to three months, though if you go and just show up, there is not a problem. The prices can vary greatly, though if you stay by the month it'll be cheaper and you pay your own electricity in most of them. I think you could count on paying at least $400 or so. We are going to stay at Paradise South in Mercedes January and February but we get a little discount because we also belong to Thousand Trails. Many of the parks have things going on so you can make use of the amenities, however, you can find some that are a lot less if you don't care about having any of those things. There are parks spread across from Brownsville and Harlingen over to McAllen and Mission--all in the little towns between. If you're wanting fishing too, you may rather have the Harlingen area so you can get over to Padre easily. Maybe others will have more specific information about that. Good luck and have a great trip.
