Our FF fan also used to have the lid stick when it tried to open. I went up on the roof and ran my fingers around the inside of the lid to see why it was sticking. Found a small burr from the production process and used a small file to sand off the burr. Has not stuck since, you might look at yours to see if you too have a slight rough area causing the sticking lid.
