Let us know what you find out. You might want to consider closing off the HW valves, as if you were going to winterize the unit. That way the water can still be drawn in the unit (cold, of course).
Take a few pictures of what you discover and post, if you would. Pictures won't take up too much space on the CF card in that Nikon you've got and people, like myself, would appreciate the lesson learned.
