The lift on our 2006 ES was only used for changing sheets. But we opted for the QN mattress in our 2009 MS to make it easier to find a replacement mattress.

Found it was a great choice. It's very easy to change them now, even with a side table on both sides of bed. DRV left plenty of space to push bedding down. And the platform doesn't catch and tear my expensive sheets like on the metal springs.
