I would imagine that many won't even mention it to friends as they might be afraid that their friends may think the are only trying to profit from it. At least I wouldn't be likely to mention the referral.

Now, if the party with which I was communicating asked if there was some kind of incentive, that would be different. I would still be more inclined to be happy with a happy friend as having another $200.
