Per Tom Peck at Doubletree, the 1st unit affected is 3251. My unit number is 3207 so I'm not affected but here is a heads up on who has this problem

I will be the first to step up... I don't get what is being said... If the first unit is 3251 + 28 = 3279 that is if they are made in sequence. Now we also have a 2007... have not gotten the mail yet, so is that where you received your notice?
I would like to be informed of all recalls, so I appreciate your info. :) Now if anyone else has any info or I shall call DT (of course) to see what needs to be done. Don't want to be going down the road and have a problem  .

We got our letter today so guess we'll have to figure out when to get by a dealer. Anybody else get their fixed yet?

Layne...My guess is your recall is for the brake actuator not the bolt/caliper Haggis is discussing? I think the recall notice for the problem Haggis has is not being mailed to 07 owners.....I think there are 2 completely different problems here.

Layne....Hope you are on good terms with your dealer. I'm having a real problem finding any willing to do the actuator recall.

I got a safety recall #08V-040 the other day from DoubleTree. It stated that there was a defect in some of the ActiBrake actuators manufactured from July 19, 2006 through March 12, 2007. DoubleTree installed this disc brake system in certain 2007 Elite, Mobile Suite, and Select Suite fifth wheel RV.

I got mine back home today, they replaced the entire ActiBrake unit, and they also installed a nice drip pan under the unit. Mine was leaking brake fluid and it didn't have a pan under the original unit, thus brake fluid everywhere.

With the recall letter in hand there should be no problem in getting your dealer to take care of it. If you unit was built within the above dates you should be getting a safety recall letter, if not I would give them a call, good brakes are a good thing.

I'm in Florida my dealer is in Canada. I haven't tried really hard but I did call a couple of Doubletree dealers for service. As I did not purchase my trailer from them, they "could not fit me in to their schedule" This is not a new problem. It seems warranty service is a money losing proposition for dealers and unless you are willing to pay for service their schedules are full. I have not received the recall (Activebrake equiped built March 07) and will look for someone with more diligence once I get it.

You might just want to contact the factory in writing and pass on to them which dealer(s) is unwilling to repair the safety recall issue. Make sure you include the names of the general manager and service manager.

In addition to that check with Dexter ans the item in question is not a DT manufactured part, just installed by them. Dexter may just have some info on non DT service centers who are willing to be professional in their dealings with the public.

Thirdly pass on the information to as many RV publications as you can about which dealers are not honoring their commitment to the contract they signed with DT to do warranty service. An additional letter to the local chamber of commerce and BBB might also be in order.

This bovine scatology is not something that consumers should have to put up with and is extremely unprofessional behavior on the part of the dealers who decide to do business in this matter. A list of dealers who do not service the brands they sell unless you bought it from them should be compiled so that consumers can avoid dealing with them. In the time of an economic turn down in the industry, the last thing they should be doing is turning away work.

I called Dexter...they will not do anything as the Activebrake actuator has nothing to do with them. They did however refer me to Activebrake whom I have talked to before. I'll try a few trailer shops once I get the recall.

My dealer replaced my all plastic actibrake actuator with a Carlisle unit that is all metal. Hope it will be more dependable.
