If I put awnings on my slides (8' & 4') do I need to be concerned about the wind as with a normal awning?

Thanks

Slideout awnings are usually "Toppers" and are not effected by wind. They roll in and out with the slideout. Some folks have had flapping issues with some toppers, but I haven't. There are some models avail now that have some supports that keep them tight and avoid any flapping and water trapping. I think they are made by Carefree.

There are also slideout awnings that roll out as well, but also have extendable
feature to give shade to a window below. These if extended, would be subject to wind issues.

Cheers,
Bill

I purchased a product called Awning Air Wedge for underneath my toppers, I have four toppers. They also prevent water from pooling on the toppers.

We have 3 toppers on our 3 slides. Since we were spending winter in windy VA, we bought 3 Air Wedges and one blew out within the month. Other 2 didn't fare much better. But I least I saw the 2nd one blow out and made DH run out and grab it before it flew away. LOL

They are now packed away in our basement.

Wow, I live in Central Ohio, and it is very windy here, and I have never had mine blow out from underneath my toppers...sounds as if you did not have them inflated enough.

They tend to lose air when it's 7 degrees.....
