We searched diligently before the first time we towed in the mountains, and we found very little information.

We made a YouTube video about what we learned, but we truly want more information. If you have suggestions or ideas, please leave comments.

We pulled our 28 foot Sunset Creek with a 2011 Ford F150 Ecoboost. It did great for power. But when we experienced those 6 percent and steeper grades is when I learned a thing or two.

1. I had to back off the throttle and slow down going up otherwise it would heat up very quickly. They have too small a radiator to handle the heat created by two turbos. Backing off it did fine.
2. I go down slow to save my brakes. I pull off before my brakes heat up. 1/2 way down on the west slope of Wolf Creek pass for example we pulled off for 30-45 minutes and watched others go by with brakes smoking and stinking. Not worth it and very hard on your equipment.
3. Plan ahead and check out the passes on your route. You may find lesser slopes so easier pulls. There is a book of all the mountain passes with their slopes etc written by a trucker.
