Rim failure

I just bought 2010 keystone raptor and when redoing brakes and wheel bearings I noticed crack in alum rim across spoke. Put spare on. Tracked down supplier to Tread it and talked to rep. Turns out rims are rated for e range at 65 psi and someone put g range tires at 100 psi which they believe could have caused crack. Anyone with experience and better knowledge then me on this? Would you upgrade rims to take g range or change tires to e range? Was there issues with e range, too much load in poor design? Thanks, I am new to RVing and fixing one up to go full time in year.

Give Scott at www.trailertireandwheels.com a call and discuss it with him--very knowledgeable about all trailers and wheels.
If you have a 2-axle trailer, suggest you upgrade to 17.5 wheels/tires and be done with tire worries. You would be looking at $2100 +/- and also the spare, but it is a one-time deal and that would fit the full-time lifestyle.
I assume you have 8k axles? If not, the 17.5s are probably way overkill, and you will have to think about 16" options. TTW can help you make a decision--they can send everything to you mounted and balanced.

Thanks, I'll call today. They are 6000# axles, triple axles.

I second what Joe said! After going to 17.5 rims and H rated tires my flats have almost completely gone away.

Ended up calling thread it and got 6 new rims for $450 that are higher load rated and then I'll switch to g load tires which should set me up pretty good. With the tru axles, at least mine, can't fit 17.5 tires on, there is little room now between tires with 16" G load range. Thanks again as a newbie with no rv experience it's a huge help.

Just for your info, the 17.5" tires are almost exactly the same diameter as the 16" tires...sometimes even a little shorter.

Same thought I had before someone on this forum told me about his changeout to 17.5s.
The 20" wheels/tires on my wife's MKX are about the same diameter size as the 18s that also come on some of them.
