Going to order a 36RSSB3 DRV. I have been advised by one dealer to get a 3rd A/C if I plan on spending time in hot climates. Is this a good idea or a waste of a thousand dollars?

I ordered the 3rd A/C because our unit is over 40 ft long. Have used it but never really needed it.

Our unit is about 38', same size as the 2009 MS, we traded. 2 were fine on our 2006 ES, but the 2009 did struggle sometimes in treeless 100+ d areas. Then when we heard the new EPA approved Freon didn't work quite the same, we decided to go with dealer recommendation and went all 3-15k.

We were especially thankful for all 3 when we returned to NM in July and turned everything on. Within hours, the 2-LR units quit cooling. Trying to find an RV Tech was pretty difficult, but finally found one who verified we needed 2 new units.

Within 5 days, the BR blew up, too. One 10,000BTU portable LG AC from Home Depot barely kept it under 85d.

All 3 (different style inside) were replaced under warranty during the next week at our dealer. Don't know how long it would have taken if we had tried to get them replaced in Albuquerque.

Haven't have any problem keeping cool the last couple of months in SE OK 100d days.

3 AC's suggested by Alicia at Rolling Retreats when ordering our new 39TKSB3. We took her advice and thankful we did! Why be uncomfortable??????

My old 36TK3 still has the original ACs--2--and have never been too hot if on 50amp service. Having 3 ACs when only 2 can run at one time--not sure this is the answer unless the length is such that part of the trailer can't get enough cool air without the 3rd unit.

I have ran all three AC's on 50A and also with my 6500 Cummins/Onan GEN no problem.

we have a 38RSSA and have had no cooling issues with just the two....Even with temps in the 100's, (100* to 110*)

Two A/C on ours, we close out the bedroom and keep it at 68 during the evenings while wintering in the south.
I wear a toque to bed, the wifey likes it iceberg cold. The bedroom AC does a great job If we had three I would have to wear a parka all day.

I've been told that you can only run 2 a/c's at one time . True or false?

On 30 amp you can only run 1. On 50 amp you can run all 3. Good luck.

You can two on 30A if all other high volt items are turned off. I have done it with no problem.

I have ran all three AC's on 50A and with the 6500 LP GEN.

Factory says no. I have run all 3 at once but I wait for 1 to start before I start the next one. Starting is what draws the most power.

Today it was 113*... Touching the side of our 5er or the step hand rail was not advisable!... way hotter than ambient!...We have the two a/c's set at 74* and it's very comfortable!...73* and under is just to cool!

I am very impressed with the insulation quality of this 5th wheel.
