Trailer wiring

I was tracing down an intermittent trailer light failure yesterday (turned out to be in my big truck Hoppy plug)....but saw this evidence of fine workmanship of wires leaving the hitch and going underneath the skin. Yep, it was "hot" and grounded to the frame.

Guess the good news was that after 6 years, it was not causing a problem.....that I was aware of.

Gotta love that fine amish craftsmanship there. Glad you didn't have a fire that put you and your family in danger as well as torching the trailer.

Yep Drv's wiring is very poor. My hyd compartment looks like a rats nest and that's after I have cleaned it up a lot.

My brother has a Teton and I checked his trailer out with a fine tooth comb no comparison between Drv and the Teton. His wiring looked like a professional had installed it instead of a 2 year old.

This junk 09 didn't have any stop lights or turn signals from day one until I rewired and got things going.

So....new owners and soon to be new owners....you now have one more thing to check out before you pay them in full....

If you are not satisfied with the wiring, make 'em re-do it.

Not totally impress with wiring on any 5th wheel we have owned but out of the 6 we have owned, DRV has better wiring.. And don't forget, Teton is no longer in business building RV's, but they are building skid type housing for the oil fields... Happy Trails...
