ever since our rig was new we have hd trouble with the freezer and frost, especially in the shelf above the ice maker. now it is out of control. i defrosted yesterday and it is frosting all over the place. the door shelves have moisture and stuff there is thawing.
I noticed that when I close the door it had a little give to it now and when I go to open it I have to push on it to release the lock. Is the door warped or something? Anyone else with this issue?
I will cal dometic, but I am always intersted in your input.
Thank you, Cyndy

it may be the gasket but it seems to be hard to latch and unlatch so I'm thinking maybe its out of alignment....how do I fix that?

The only thing I can think of off hand is to look and see if any of the hinge mountings have loosened or shifted. That could cause it to be out of alignment. I don't recall if dometic even has replacement gaskets for the units.

I was wondering about that too. We emptied the freezer so now we can fiddle with those hinges. Dometic tech was not much help. We can feel the gap at the bottom of the door gasket when it is closed. I will let you know. This trip to new hampshire has been an adventure in repairs. The highways stink! It was like taking a beating everyday.

Where in NH did you go? Are you still out there? We're heading out that way tomorrow.

WELL DUH! on the trip East the freezer door was partly open for a few hours so when we arrived here it desperately needed defrosting. When I returned the door shelves to the door, the top shelf was in the highest position which put it directly in line with the ice cube maker bucket.
I thought it might be something on the door shelves so I at first removed everything on the door....but it didn't help...Howard pulled out the ice bucket and it shut just fine....so from now on there will be a little mark on that top bracket to remind me not to put the shelf there!
Thank you for your help though. Once again we are grateful that don't have some major repair to deal with!

Glad it was something simple. Those are the best repairs.
