Dimplex Fireplace

Thanks Mike for adding the KZ part of the forum. I'm a new Escalade owner and have a question about the Dimplex fireplace. ( no user manual was provided) On the bottom left of the fireplace is an on/off switch and 2 round knobs. The right hand knob is labeled "lights" and turning the knob dims or brightens the lights. The left knob says "flames" bur it dosen't seem to do anything to the flames. Am I missing something? or is mine not functioning?

Talked to a Cedar Creek owner today who has the exact same fireplace. We looked at his and it performs exactly the same. He showed me that the knob varies the speed of the flames (not the size or intensity) ever so slightly. If no one had pointed out the slight variation I would have never figured it out.
