Since new our 07 MS has had an "off" smell. Musty as soon as the door is opened. Have had some leaks in the past, but all but one in the front right lower compartment have been taken care of (Any help locating the remaining leak would be appreciated)
Question is has anyone used a ozone generator to remove odors from their unit? I have purchased on hoping to remove the smell out of our clothes carpet walls you name it.

Haven't used one of those things but we have had good luck just using borax soap. Sprinkle some around the area you suspect the smell is coming from. Let it sit then vacuum it up. A friend of ours had a black tank leak (it cracked) and sewage in the basement. After the mess was cleaned up, using mostly borax and water, they spread the dry borax on the carpet and let it sit. The smell went away pretty fast and you can't tell there was ever a leak there.

Not sure about the Ozone cleaner, but if you still have that smell, you may have insulation and possibly soaked wood if its in the ceiling or floors.

We had a leak from the front AC unit (when the AC was installed they didn't place the seal correctly) and it rotted the wood in front of the AC and soaked insulation. Once roof pulled off and everything replaced, all is ok now. No more smell.

Sizing an ozone generator depends greatly upon a number of factors. Very high levels of ozone are the most effective way to kill and control mold spores.

Bought a van several years back that had very strong cigarette odor. Took it to a auto detailer who did an ozone treatment on it. It removed every trace of cigarette odor, like it had never been smoked in. I do not know about sizing of the unit. You may want to call a detailer or perhaps a company that specializes in water damage clean up. Maybe they could tell you how to maximize the effect of your machine or if a larger industrial size is required.

Ozone update. I purchased one and have used it in the rig. Very happy with the results. Purchased online for $270. Same item that is used by car dealers and hotels. To use just close up the unit, turn it on and leave. You cannot be in the unit while unit is running. In nature ozone is generated when there is lightning. That clean smell when you walk outside after lightning is ozone.

Will be checking the insulation in the basement as it is wet. No sign of wet areas in the living area.

Ozone generators are the way to go to get rid of smells but one has to stop the leaks and remove any and all of the mold and mildew damaged materials. I deal with this issue quite often living here in SW Florida, being a Fl. residential contractor. Good units that will cover the whole unit are pricey but for one area a small one will work. Hope this helps.
