View Full Version : AIR BAGS?

Ok - i'm officially a 5th whl owner, and man do i squat.
I saw another F250 at the track that was pulling a 41footer (vs my 34.5ft)and he had airbags on his truck and he had no squat. Any thougths/suggestions as to their effectiveness?

I put air bags on our 2006 F350 DRW after we purchased our last 5th wheel to help level the rig. It worked great and even had an unexpected bonus of a much smoother ride when towing. I will never have another truck without air bags!

Air bags will certainly solve this problem. Consider, also, the use of larger, more capacity bump stops called "Timbrens" They are completly idiot-proof. www.timbren.com

Air bags require a compressor to air up--getting one in the deal can double the cost of the install. Timbrens are a very hard rubber donut never wears out and requires no maintainence.

On my 2005 F-350 DRW I have used the Timbren rubber springs. They work quite well. However, if one goes over something that causes a hard hit, then the springs seem to "hit bottom" or, in other words, one feels a hard hit.

While I like them, I might go back to air bags/springs. My recollection, though fuzzy, is the air bags might have ridden a bit better.

I run the AirLift 5,000 airbags with on-board compressor and really is great. You can adjust the harsh ride of concrete roads while driving down the road when towing. When not towing the airbags can be lowered to 5 psi is this takes them out of the picture for maximum ride comfort. The airbags will level out your rig and give you air ride comfort also. I would not be without them.
