View Full Version : Electric brakes with mismatch max capacity

I inherited a 1991 29ft King of the Road and drive it home for Colorado over Thanksgiving week

Since the RV had little or no maintenance performed for last few years, I have spent last couple of weeks fixing things and getting ready for our first “real” trip

I replaced the brake with complete assemblies from DEXTER. But not only did the local RV dealer over charge me for the assemblies (could have got them for 50% less on line) He sold me two that were rate at 7500 max (black wire magnet) and two that were rate at 5200 max (white wire magnet)

The RV had all white wire magnets. MY CONCERN is will the difference in capacity effect the braking where the RV might pull to one side or the other ???

Since the brakes are other wise the same, I assume the difference is the capacity of the magnets (how much force they can apply)

I don't know enough about this to tell you an answer, but it seems that if you put the same brake magnet on each axle, you would not have a pulling problem? Are the magnets different sizes? If not, then I would think the stopping power is the same no matter the wire color.
You can probably tell I am not an electric brake expert.

Didn't notice this was over 5 months ago--any other posts from him?
