My latest revision to my Suites is the replacement from the three step to the four step from Elkhart Tool & Die. It sure makes it easier to get into the fiver with the added step. I now have the 7 inch step instead of the 9 and 10 inch and don't have to use a step stool for the first step. If we were twenty years younger, we would not have any issues with the high steps. Seems like the trailers keep getting higher all the time. Best $246 I have spent and just wanted to share with my fellow RVers.

We ordered ours with the four step....too bad the dealers don't let you know it's available.
Sure does make a difference for us old folks.

We had them installed when we visited the factory. I think they should be standard. It is so much easier when carrying groceries or anything else in.

We ordered our new one with one. We had them on our 2005 Open Road. Age isn't the issue, our GChildren have problems sometimes, too.

Some really bad sites David would have to build up two block high lower step.

Four steps is probably the better way to go...for the difference in initial price all manufacturers should offer this option I think.
Another sore point with me is how shallow the very 1st (bottom) step is.
All these trailers have doors that open out, it is hard to open that door and stand on that 1st. step at the same time.
You have to lean back, out of the way of the opening door, while standing on a narrow (shallow) step.
Shorter folks have difficulty reaching the door catch when standing on the ground.

Newmar actually offers a balcony that extends out just for that reason.

I went the other way.. went to Lowes and bought stair risers and deck boards, had them cut the deck boards to 24", Bought a piece of 24x24x3/4" outdoor plywood for a deck on the top. and a box of deck screws. I ended up with 4 steps up to a deck at the top. I use a pallot for a ground level 'porch'. The assembly slides onto the original stairs without attachment and are narrow enough to slide inside the door when the slides are in. Total cost with a coat of paint... 58 dollars. Now I am making some hand rails for them.

Yes, I would like to see your idea.
Sounds like a good solution, maybe better than my own.
I did address the problem myself over a year ago, I posted the results here.

Huck, you can order the quad steps online from rvstuffUSA.com for approx $246 no tax and free shipping. I don't think you can order from the factory.

Is the 4 step set-up a direct bolt on thing or is there welding involved????

Here in the park I am in i purchased ($25) a used set of park model steps. 4 steps with a small porch on top. Works great and is much safer.

Not too convenient to haul around though.

Jack, No welding and two bolt holes aligned up. required drilling two additional holes. It is thin metal with little effort to drill. Not hard to install.

I had the 4 step installed on my 2004 MS, and it involved some cutting of the bracket where the old step was attached. I ordered the 4 step on my 2006 Elite. It did not take that long for them to attach the new step. The step was purchased somewhere west of DT factory for under $200
